Every June, San Quirico d’Orcia travels back in time with Festa del Barbarossa, one of Tuscany’s most spectacular historical re-enactments.
For several days, the medieval village comes alive with historical parades, performances, neighbourhood competitions and centuries-old traditions commemorating the meeting between Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa and the papal envoys, which took place in San Quirico d’Orcia in 1155.

Step Back into the Middle Ages in the Heart of the Val d’Orcia
During Festa del Barbarossa, the streets of the historic centre become an open-air stage where history comes to life.
